Google Photos and Google Drive is no longer together used convenient.

"Looks like those who save images in the Google Drive no longer has the convenience of not worrying that one may forget to save in their Google Photo albums".

Starting July 10, 2019, Google Photos and Google Drive will no longer automatically sync your photos and videos. Learn more here, or read their blog post.

Before you get started: Add photos & videos from Google Drive to Google Photos

To organize your photos and videos across services, you can add photos from Google Drive to Google Photos.
Before you get started

The photo must be larger than 256 pixels.
The file type must be .jpg, .gif, .webp, .tiff, or .raw.
If you use a Google Account through work or school, you’ll have to download from Google Drive and re-upload to Google Photos.
